   Global processes and prices form relationships of the markets.

Therefore, despite the fact that iron ore raw materials (IORM) in the world are produced in sufficient quantities, not all enterprises can receive it.

Reducing the cost of iron ore can be achieved at the expense of decrease in account coefficients of these materials, including the use of different iron-containing materials of secondary origin.

In the metallurgical industry is sufficient experience of use them as a sinter mix of metallurgical slag and sludge, dust electrostatic precipitators, flue dust, and other materials.

Problems are in the stereotype views of chemical and phase composition of furnace charge - in number of used additives and stabilization of their structure according to the content of iron, and also in their preliminary preparation for use.

 The most approved in metallurgy is the technology of use as a part of agglomerative furnace charge of metallurgical slimes and slags. These materials after additional preparation – enrichment, averaging on fractional structure, drying, pelletizing or briquetting are used by production of agglomerate.

 Using in the sintering metal scraps, can save considerable amount of mineral raw materials, namely, limestone, sinter ore, fuel.

The agglomerates obtained from the use of metal scrap possess the increased temperature on the initial, but have rather narrow interval of a softening.

This greatly increases their value in the smelting of blast furnace.

Since this increases the gas permeability property of the blast furnace charge that at blast furnace smelting is pledge of the stable operation of a blast furnace.

On other technological parameters the agglomerate made from metal scrap, practically doesn't differ from traditional agglomerate.

Under the conditions of "Ilyich Iron Steel Works" - 1 ton of scrap metal products can save up to 750 kg of iron ore pellets , 200 kg of limestone, manganese ore 25 kg , 48 kg of agglomerate fuel .

In world practice sinter " Inland Steele " in East Chicago (USA) sinter produced only from metal scrap without ore additives .

It is no secret that the blast furnace is the most energy-intensive metallurgical division cycle.

Recently, due to the increased cost of charge materials, logistics costs, more urgent is the search for substitutes of iron components of the charge.

 In the processing of charge of blast furnaces used rusty and caked  steel chips as well as cast iron chips, granules , fraction and slagging scrap  such components of the charge of blast furnaces is named burden additive (according to Circular 4 , № international classification code number 220 (MSTIB), № 222 (STIB)).

To make comparative analyses of BF charge calculation using scrap metal obtained from slag disposal and without it, convincingly proves that the application of scrap metal is beneficial because:

- There is a better uptake of manganese and chromium in iron, compared to the production of synthetic iron;

- Reduced coke consumption;

- By reducing the amount of coke decreases bringing the charge of phosphorus and sulphur, and it is important;

 - Reduced consumption of iron ore pellets;

- Increases the permeability of the charge;

 - Does not change the characteristics of the operation of the blast furnace;

 - Availability of metal iron in melting accelerates transition of iron ore to iron on reactions

    Fe2O3 → Fe3O4 → FeO → Fe, that is a metal concentrate is the catalyst, the accelerator of the reaction of restoration of iron.

 Presence in considerable quantities on slag disposal breakage of refractory materials and graphite are an excellent raw material for the preparation of refractory compounds such as mortar, magnesite, chrome magnesite  which always have the increased demand in metallurgy.  Production of breakage of graphite, powder graphite, and various heat-insulating mixes also are the products of higher demand of metallurgists.

In the rest remains the empty slag of slag disposal, which is after extraction from it a valuable raw material the crushed stone - sand mix suitable for road construction, on what there is a conclusion of the relevant services.
